From our shelves to your doorstep. Here is everything you need to know about how we get your books and boxes to you.
We know the best part of ordering a new book is the moment it arrives. That is why we work hard to pack every order with care and get it to you as quickly as possible. Below you will find all the details on shipping methods, timelines, costs, and more. If you have any questions, we are always here at questions@ondpapertrail.com.
1. Processing Time
We process orders Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Here is what to expect:
- Store orders — typically processed within 1-2 business days.
- Subscription boxes — shipped according to the monthly or quarterly schedule for your plan. You will receive an email when your box is on its way.
- Pre-orders and limited editions — shipped on or before the release date specified on the product page.
During busy periods (holidays, major launches), processing may take an extra day or two. We will always keep you posted if there is a delay.
2. Shipping Methods & Rates
We offer a range of shipping options to suit your needs. Rates are calculated at checkout based on your location and order weight.
- Standard Shipping — economical ground delivery, typically 5-7 business days within the US.
- Expedited Shipping — faster delivery, typically 2-3 business days within the US.
- International Shipping — available to most countries. Delivery times vary by destination, usually 7-21 business days. Customs fees and import duties are the responsibility of the recipient.
Free standard shipping is available on US orders over a certain threshold — check our current promotions at checkout.
3. Subscription Box Shipping
Subscription boxes are shipped on a fixed schedule each month or quarter. Here is how it works:
- Boxes are typically shipped between the 1st and 15th of each month, depending on your billing cycle.
- You will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information as soon as your box leaves our warehouse.
- Subscription boxes are shipped via standard ground service unless otherwise specified.
If you need to update your shipping address, please do so at least 5 days before your next billing date to ensure your box goes to the right place.
4. Tracking Your Order
Once your order ships, you will receive an email with a tracking number. You can use this to follow your package every step of the way. If you do not receive a tracking email within 3 business days of placing your order (or within 5 days for subscription boxes), please check your spam folder or contact us at questions@ondpapertrail.com.
5. Damaged, Lost, or Stolen Packages
We pack every order with love and sturdy materials, but sometimes things go wrong in transit. If your package arrives damaged, goes missing, or is marked delivered but you cannot find it, here is what to do:
- Damaged items — email us within 7 days with photos of the damaged package and contents. We will replace or refund the affected items.
- Lost packages — if your tracking has not updated in 10 business days (US) or 20 business days (international), let us know and we will investigate with the carrier.
- Stolen packages — once a package is marked as delivered by the carrier, we are not liable for theft. However, we recommend shipping to a secure address or using a package locker. Contact us and we will do our best to help.
6. Address Changes & Delivery Issues
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We are not responsible for orders shipped to incorrect addresses provided by the customer. If you need to update your address:
- For store orders, contact us as soon as possible. If the order has not shipped yet, we can update it.
- For subscription boxes, update your address in your account dashboard at least 5 days before your next billing date.
If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect address, we will reach out to arrange reshipment. Additional shipping fees may apply.
7. International Orders
We love shipping books to readers around the world! A few things to keep in mind for international orders:
- Delivery times vary by country and can take 7-21 business days after processing.
- Customs fees, import duties, and taxes are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in our shipping rates.
- We are not responsible for delays caused by customs processing.
8. Holiday & Peak Season Shipping
During peak seasons like November and December, carriers experience higher volumes which can lead to delays. We recommend placing holiday orders early to ensure timely delivery. We will post cutoff dates on our website and social media as the season approaches.
